td>ReadersRoom.com takes a minute to revisit Jennifer Apodaca
ReadersRoom: Jennifer Apodaca, welcome to ReadersRoom.com's One Year
After – it’s a pleasure to have you back with us today!
Jennifer Apodaca: I'm delighted to be here.
ReadersRoom: It has been a year since we last chatted with you so ....
what have you been doing?
Jennifer Apodaca: Writing! It's been an exciting year. I hired an agent,
and signed another two-book contract for the Samantha Shaw Series. I also have
been asked to participate in an anthology that will be a collection of four very
sexy mysteries.
ReadersRoom: Okay -- let's start with first things first -- and that
would be your latest Samantha Shaw novel, Ninja Soccer Moms. Can you tell
our readers a bit about that?
Jennifer Apodaca: I'd be happy to. Samantha Shaw hates soccer, but she
has a soft spot for revenge on cheating husbands. So when Sam's old friend,
Janie, asks for help to prove that her
ex-husband, the town's championship winning soccer coach, is stealing soccer
funds, Sam jumps in with both feet. After tangling with a paper shredder, Sam
succeeds in getting the evidence she needs on the soccer coach. But her success
is short lived when the soccer coach turns up dead. Now Sam and Janie are the
prime suspects in his murder and things really heat up for Sam!
ReadersRoom: The book was released in May?
Jennifer Apodaca: Yes, it's just been released.
ReadersRoom: And are you doing signings in support of it?
Jennifer Apodaca: I am. I always enjoy the chance to get away from my
computer and chat with readers!
ReadersRoom: Do you have a listing of your signings and appearances on
your Web site?
Jennifer Apodaca: Thanks so much for asking! Yes I do, my website is www.jenniferapodaca.com.
ReadersRoom: Okay so, tell us a bit about this anthology!
Jennifer Apodaca: Ah, well...I'm having a blast writing it! My
contribution has a marriage and family therapist heroine and a very hot NASCAR
hero who end up having to solve the murder of a tabloid reporter. Because this
is shorter than my usual books, and has a little more sizzle, it's a nice break
for me. I'm really enjoying writing it. The title will be Wicked Women
Whodunit and it will be out March 2005.
ReadersRoom: Who is publishing it, and who are the other authors?
Jennifer Apodaca: Kensington, my publisher, will publish the anthology.
The other authors are MaryJanice Davidson, Amy Garvey, and Nancy J.
Cohen.
ReadersRoom:We have interviewed Nancy! She was great.
Jennifer Apodaca: I met her last year in New York. Super nice and very
classy. I can't wait to read her contribution! And Amy Garvey was my first
editor.
ReadersRoom: We will be sure to ask Nancy about the anthology when we do
her One Year After! So, Jen, tell us what else is on your schedule for the
upcoming year?
Jennifer Apodaca: I'm doing signings and appearances right now, as we
already talked about. In July I will go to Dallas for the RWA National
Convention. Otherwise, I'm spending my time either writing, or plotting.
ReadersRoom: Any other plans, besides the anthology, to branch out and
away from Sam... although we love her dearly?
Jennifer Apodaca: Not at the moment. I do have an idea on the back
burner, but no time right now to develop it.
ReadersRoom: So, what's the next Samantha Shaw going to be about?
Jennifer Apodaca: The title of that book is Batteries Required.
Now how to describe that book, hmm ... Sam meets her best friend Angel at a
casino and innocently takes home a package...that naturally leads to murder and
big trouble for Sam!
ReadersRoom: Er ...what are the batteries required for???
Jennifer Apodaca: Good question...but you'll have to read the book to
find out!
ReadersRoom: Ah, come on, just a hint...
Jennifer Apodaca: A hint...okay it can double as a muscle
massager!
ReadersRoom: Okay, then, well, folks, thanks for stopping by, and have a
good.... Just kidding – but there goes our PG rating!
Jennifer Apodaca: Now look what you made me do ... I just destroyed
ReadersRoom’s image!
ReadersRoom: We lost that during our first ever "F" word a few chats
back.
Jennifer Apodaca: That would do it for sure!
ReadersRoom: Okay, Jen -- with all this going on, tell us a bit about
your schedule.
Jennifer Apodaca: My writing schedule? I'm afraid all this PG rated talk
has rattled me!
ReadersRoom: Yup.
Jennifer Apodaca: Sure, I'd be happy to. I'd be even happier to stick to
my schedule. I usually try to get to my computer by 8:00 a.m. I spend an hour
dealing with email and fan mail. Then I try to get started writing by 9:00. From
there on out I'm at the mercy of fate. Some days I get four to six hours in,
other days I might get only two hours. I spend the evenings working on copy
edits, promotion and that kind of thing. The weekends are for signing and
appearances.
ReadersRoom: Sounds exhausting!
Jennifer Apodaca: Sometimes it's tough, but most days I consider myself
really lucky to have a job I love. And I really do love it.
ReadersRoom: Well, we appreciate you taking this time out of your busy
schedule to chat with us -- and people can get updates on your upcoming projects
at www.jenniferapodaca.com Finally,
is there anything you would like to say to your readers?
Jennifer Apodaca: Absolutely! I want to thank all the readers for making
the Samantha Shaw books a success! And please feel free to email me, my email is
on my website. I love hearing from readers.
ReadersRoom: Jennifer Apodaca, thank you for joining us today at One Year
After -- and we wish you much success with Ninja Soccer Moms, and all
your upcoming projects!
Jennifer Apodaca: Thank you so much for having me back! It's always fun
to visit with ReadersRoom. It's been my pleasure.
