Whodunnit, whosoldit, and what's next?























Author Katherine Sutcliffe recently sold one of her out of print titles, Dream Fever, to Zumaya Publications.

Scottish crime writer Denise Mina, author of the Garnethill Trilogy, has signed with Little Brown, for Sanctum and the first two books in The Paddy Meehan Series, a new crime series featuring a young Glaswegian newspaperwoman.

Edgar nominee Jay Brandon's next two legal thrillers to Tor/Forge. The first of the two is Grudge Match, about a DA horrified to learn that a police officer he put in prison eight years earlier was innocent, but after getting the officer pardoned and released, another police officer is murdered.

Giles Blunt's BLACK FLY SEASON, the third in Blunt's series set in Northern Ontario, Canada, and featuring Det. John Cardinal, to Marian Wood at Marian Wood Books/Putnam, by Helen Heller (US; UK rights to HarperCollins; Canada to Random House of Canada).



Montgomery County Police Chief Charles Moose's THREE WEEKS IN OCTOBER: The Manhunt for the D.C. Sniper, written with former Newsweek reporter Charles Fleming, about both the celebrated case and Moose's personal story, to Brian Tart at Dutton, for publication in fall 2003 (just as both suspects go to trial) by David Vigliano (NA). Moose plans to share the profits with the St. Luke's House, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and with a fund established for the families of the victims.

Former Miami DA and then regional legal advisor for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Jilliane P. Hoffman's debut novel RETRIBUTION, about a female state attorney haunted by personal demons who becomes embroiled in a case involving the most terrifying predator she's ever encountered, to Jennifer Hershey at Putnam, in a quick offer prior to an auction for two books, Luke Janklow at Janklow & Nesbit (world). But Janklow & Nesbit is selling the foreign rights for Putnam; Tom Weldon at Penguin UK has already bought rights.
